Black Grouse in the winter frequently feed on the birch buds, therefore in December stocky birds can be seen sitting in slender birch branches in Adazi military training area and protected landscape area "Adazi".

On November 11, LIFE+ project "Birds in Adazi" concluded a two years long process of purchasing and registering in the name of the Latvian state two land properties located in the Adazi military training area and the protected landscape area "Adazi".

At the end of October, Northern Hawk Owl - a rare visitor during winter in Latvia - was spotted in the protected landscape area "Adazi".

This bird of prey is active only during the day and is usually seen perching in some observation point - on a top of a small tree or pole, watching for the prey - small rodents and birds.

In October, film production company "Vides Filmu Studija" started filming of autumn landscapes and management works in the protected landscape area "Adazi".

On September 18 LIFE+ project "Birds in Adazi" visited Adazi Secondary School. During one lesson 6th grade students learned about the nature values of the protected landscape area "Adazi", their formation history under the influence of military training and nature management methods.

24.09.2015.

At the end of August cleaning up of the unexploded ammunition took place in the protected landscape area "Adazi" heath areas where one of the project's conservation acitivties - sod cutting - will be carried out.

19.08.2015.

On 18th July LIFE+ project "Birds in Adazi" and State Forest Service organized controlled burning of several 0.5 ha to 3 ha large heath areas to restore the habitat.

On 5 July,  project manager Laura Jukāme and field work coordinator Ieva Mārdega visited Finland, where LIFE project "Light & Fire" carried out the restoration of the Western taiga habitat by a controlled burning of the forest undergrowth.

05.08.2015.

In the summer of 2015, five pairs of European Rollers were nesting in the protected landscape area "Adazi" and Adazi military training area. Unfortunately, in one nest babies died due to the lack of food caused by a cold and wet weather in June and July. None of the three eggs hatched in another nest for unknown reasons.
