Representatives of the project and SCDMOP

Representatives of the LIFE+ project "Birds in Adazi" and the  Environment Department of State Centre for Defence Military Objects and Procurement will participate in the international seminar "Conciliating operational training with the preservation of biodiversity on military camps". The experience of nature protection activities in the Garrigues military training area will be presented and discussions on the seminar topic will be carried out with the managers of other European military nature areas. LIFE+ project's field work coordinator Ieva Mardega will introduce with the nature conservation activities in the Adazi military training area.

Adazi military training area Visitors Day 2016 is dedicated to the Western Taiga - a rare type of pine forest (a habitat protected in the European Union). Nature conservation expert Sandra Ikauniece will tell about the Western taiga and its management, Inita Daniele will introduce to the mushrooms found in this forest, Voldemars Spungis will tell about the insect species. National Armed Forces will show military equipment used in the military training in the Adazi MTA.

In November, representatives of the LIFE+ project "Birds in Adazi" will visit the Dutch military training areas, to learn about foreign colleagues' experience of nature management in these territories. Staff of State Centre for Defence Military Objects and Procurement, National Armed Forces and JSC "Latvian State Forests" will participate in the visit.
