Documentary "Green Soldier" tells about environmental protection in Adazi MTA

This September, development of the film "Green Soldier" was completed within the LIFE+ project "Birds in Adazi".

"Green Soldier" is an educational documentary about environmental requirements during military training in Adazi military training area. The territory is extensively used by Latvian National Armed Forces and Allied Forces. Military training has been carried out here for nearly 100 years. At the same time unique nature values ​​- European Roller, Eurasian Nightjar, Black Grouse, Natterjack Toad, Pasque Flower and many other European protected species are found in the mosaic of open heath and inland dunes, clean lakes and old forests. Protected landscape area “Adazi” has been established for preservation of these rare species and their habitats.

Under the guidance of hardened Latvian soldier the film tells about “Adazi” nature values and their protection, environmentally friendly gathering of camouflage materials and digging entrenchments, driving in the area, action in the case of spill and chemical emergency, sorting of waste, daily saving of energy and water resources. Introductory words are said by Minister of Defence Raimonds Bergmanis. 

Half an hour long film is intended for soldiers participating in the military training in Adazi training area. It is in Latvian language with subtitles in Latvian and English, published in 200 DVD copies.

Work on the film lasted almost a year, it was carried out by a film production company VFS Films. Director and scriptwriter is Sandijs Semjonovs, military consultant Ziedonis Ločmelis, operator Māris Maskalāns, aerial shots operator Miks Ramāns, executive producer Agne Skane, producer Uldis Cekulis.
