While migratory birds are already in the south, resident birds in “Adazi” survive the winter. By flocking together birds in “Adazi” improves the chances of locating food and huddling together during the critical long night-time period helps conserve the body heat.

In July-August this year 30 new information boards have been set up and information updated on 30 existing information boards in the protected landscape area "Ādaži".

20 of the new boards mark the border of the extended protected landscape area “Ādaži”, while the 10 old ones are located on the previous border of “Ādaži”.

Within the framework of the LIFE + project "Birds in Adazi", work has begun on preparing an interactive application, which will include twelve 360 degree virtual tours of the heath, Western taiga forest and raised bog.

On August 29th-31st an international conference "Military and Nature - Mutual Benefits" will be held in Sigulda. More than 60 representatives of the defence sector and nature conservation experts from 17 different countries will take part in the conference.

In July this year, the burning of heath and forest undergrowth was carried out in the Adazi MTA and in the protected landscape area Adazi.

On July 23rd, burning of 14 hectares of heath in six plots was carried out. Within the LIFE+ project, the burning of the heath is planned in a total area of ​​300 hectares, and at the moment, all planned amount has been acquired.

This August restoration works of the natural water level will be started in the drained Rampa Bog - the construction of dams on the drainage ditches – in order to restore altogether 500 hectares of bog. Works will continue until October 31 and will be carried out by SIA "Meliorācija - A.G." and "ViaCon Latvia", supervised by SIA "Meliorācijas sistēmas".
